Elizabeth I
If you are studying British history, then you would have heard about Queen Elizabeth the first. Elizabeth I was a great Queen of England. She was the daughter of King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn. The marriage between King Henry and Anne did not end well and Elizabeth was pronounced illegitimate. She was not supposed to rule England. The story of how she rose to power and became the greatest Queen of England is a fascinating one.
After King Henry VIII died, his only son became King Edward VI. However, he died young, at the age of 15. His half sister who was also Elizabeth's half sister, Lady Mary became Queen Mary I. She imprisoned Elizabeth in the Tower of London at one point because she feared Elizabeth was plotting to get rid of her and become Queen herself.
